Timeless Treasures: Nursery Gifts that Grow with the Baby

What excitement you must be feeling at the prospect of a new addition to your family. Perhaps you are just at the beginning of your pregnancy journey or nearing the end…whichever stage you are currently in you may be thinking about creating the perfect room or nursery for your expectant little one. And what a special time that is. Creating something just for them, a calming space where you can be together.

I get a lot of visits from new parents in my shop looking for prints to decorate their little one’s walls, and it’s always such a joy to help. I love creating prints inspired by nature (with a little touch of whimsy), knowing it will become part of a new baby’s world.

I imagine them gazing up from their crib, drawn to the colours of the flowers, the shapes of the leaves, and the friendly faces of the woodland animals. And I hope as they grow, my prints will spark curiosity and help them connect with nature on their own woodland adventures. I believe a love for nature, nurtured early on, can make a difference. Little nature lovers often grow into big nature lovers who care for the world around them.

A whimsical woodland nursery

My collection of whimsical woodland nursery prints are inspired by the animals and nature that surround my little shop/studio in the Forest of Bowland, but with a whimsical twist. I love painting little stories around the animals, inspired by traditional, wholesome activities, to help inspire a child’s imagination and encourage them to build their own stories.

Each print is taken from my original watercolour paintings, which are hand drawn and painted in soft earthy colours to create a natural and calming space for both you and your child.

A magical fairy themed nursery

I’ve spent a lot of time walking through the woods imagining all of the little magical forest folk that frequent them. Inspired by this, and traditional children’s stories, I created a collection of fairy and elf prints that will add a touch of magic to any child’s room. 

Magical woodland friends, elves riding squirrels, fairies dancing with dandelion clocks - each print has a unique connection to nature and whimsy.

I always aim to create this sense of calm, keeping even the flower colours gently muted, allowing your child’s room to be a place for resting, for quiet connection and being together.

This collection offers a lovely mix of detailed storytelling illustrations, perfect for larger A3 sizes, and simple, heartwarming quotes that look adorable in the smaller A5 size. While I think all my prints offer a sense of timeless magic, my woodland print collection is more simplistic than my other prints, and naturally lends itself to transitioning seamlessly from nursery walls to an older child’s bedroom. 

Just a little side note - lots of ’grown-ups' buy these prints for themselves, often in the extra large A1 and A2 print sizes. They make a perfect statement piece for a country-style home!
